Our First Visit – and What a Day!
This year marked PMG Motorsport’s first visit to the National Kit Car Show, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Bigger and better than we expected, the event had something for everyone – from seasoned builders to curious newcomers and plenty of families enjoying a day out.
There was a fantastic atmosphere across the entire site – indoors and out – with bustling exhibitor stands, trade stalls, demonstrations, and hospitality areas. It was brilliant to chat with fellow enthusiasts, pick up advice, and dive headfirst into the world of kit cars. Bonnet up or boot open, people were more than happy to share their knowledge, which made for a truly engaging and educational experience.

Highlights from the National Kit Car Show
GT40s – just wow. Truly iconic and beautifully presented, these cars stopped us in our tracks more than once.
Great British Sports Cars had an interesting stand – full of information, friendly faces, and clever ideas like their ‘try it for size’ chassis featuring multiple seating options within a single cockpit. Their in-house throttle bodies were another talking point, and we had a great time chatting with the team.
MEV impressed both inside and out, with sleek displays and even demonstration rides – what a fantastic feature! Their RX-8 donor car build particularly caught our attention: 230HP at 9500RPM with minimal weight and relatively low cost – definitely one to research further.
MK Sportscars showcased their new Cup 200 in a striking white and gold livery – absolutely stunning. We also got to see the RX-5 Turbo demonstrator, which we last encountered at their Braintree facility in a much earlier stage of its build. Now fully assembled, it looked fantastic in blue with black accents.

With cameras out, we took plenty of reference shots for parts next on our own build list. Having the chance to speak to Neil, Lewis, and Sean in front of a finished car was incredibly helpful. The MK team were, as always, generous with their time and expertise – it’s hard to beat their practical know-how and willingness to help.
Other highlights included a timely reminder that we really do need to subscribe to Complete Kit Car magazine – a great resource full of insight and inspiration. We also made a mental note to get in touch with Howden Insurance, whose team were approachable and well-informed, offering tailored advice for kit car owners.
And of course, no sunny show day would be complete without a cold glass of cider and a whippy ice cream, which we thoroughly enjoyed.
We were blown away by the display from the Westfield Sports Car Owners Club, with 40–50 cars lined up in fine form. The Paul Swift stunt show added extra flair, drawing gasps and applause with each daring move. From Cobras to beach buggies – and back again to more stunning GT40s – there was something for every car enthusiast, and of course, we didn’t skip the essentials: cold cider and whippy ice cream – perfect on a sunny show day.
The National Kit Car Show 2025 exceeded all expectations. Friendly, informative, and inspiring – it’s clear why this event is a highlight in the kit car calendar. We’ll definitely be back next year.
